Veeam sql backup best practices

It has a large external SCSI disk array attached which is used for local backups of that site and as offsite backup space for the mothership backups. I also have a satellite site which has a single older physical machine acting as a proxy. There are an equal number of backup copy jobs in place as well to make the offsite backups to the satellite site. This site has roughly 35 VMs that get backed up spread across 11 jobs based on server purpose.

there are two vSphere VMs that are configured as backup proxys. This site is setup with a WAN accelerator role on the backup server itself. a third array is an offsite storage location for my satellite site (more on that later). Two external disk arrays are setup as a scale out repository. Its has a collection of direct attached storage (internal storage and external eSata disk arrays). Its a physical box thats a few years old. I have what I will call a mothership location where the Veeam backup server is. I really appreciate in advance any insights you can provide. I started here a few months ago and I'm trying to figure everything out and understand if there are ways to improve the setup and (soon) grow it. I've watched the little bit of training videos Veeam has and read some of their white papers as well. my previous job used a different backup product.
